SUMMARY:From the “Comfort Women” to Military Sexual Violence Today
DESCRIPTION:Su\, 9.10.\, 3-7 pm\nAula am Campus \nPlease register here: https://bit.ly/3eWheyB \nRoundtable \nChair: Chris Berry\, King’s College London \nExpert Speakers: \nFeride Rushiti\, The Kosovo Rehabilitation Centre for Torture Victims \nEmilie Hu\, Fenton Communications\, graduate of Scripps College \nDr. Marta Havryshko\, The Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences\, URIS Fellow in Basel \nThis roundtable is motivated by both recent controversies and struggles about remembering – and forgetting – Taiwan’s so-called “comfort women” and the continued use of sexual violence in warfare today. Urgent questions include: \n* How can we remember without retraumatizing victims\, but instead empower them? \n* How does our knowledge about past sexual violence shape our understanding of what is happening today? \n* As survivors become fewer with the passing of time\, how can we continue to raise public awareness? \n* What are legal\, political and cultural specificities of dealing with the legacy of military sexual violence in different places? \n  \nAn event by Vienna Center for Taiwan Studies in cooperation with Frauen*solidarität.
